When You Reunite With Your Old School Friends

So, I am back after a long time. Meeting your old school friends when you are 40+ or something like that is almost getting back your childhood days. This has exactly happened to me. After a long period of around 27-28 years, I found some of my school friends back which I did not expect at all. Thanks especially to Facebook and social media. These days, they are doing a simply wonderful job by connecting people who at some point of time were known to each other but cannot remember the names of their acquaintances now due to different problems. Had they not connected with me via social media, I would not have been able to recognize them even if they came in front of me by chance. After all these years, our appearances have changed and this is particularly true as far as I am concerned.

Very soon, we are going to have a reunion and I am sure this is going to be a very special event for all of us. Three decades back, we studied together in the same school but now we are working in different domains and places across the country. Some of us are also living abroad for their professional requirements. So, this event is going to bridge the gap or void that was created by these number of years. I hope this is going to be a grand event for all Andrewsians who are coming on that day. Next blog coming up soon! Goodbye till then.

Dragonfly on my verandah

Writing a blog after a long time. Now this blog is about dragonflies that often visit the garden of our co-operative society. I had a chance to click some pics with my Gionee P5W smartphone when it sat on my verandah and I think the snaps have a lot of clarity. Though dragonflies have a number of similarities with damselflies, which belong to the suborder Zygoptera, damselflies are lighter in weight. Damselflies also fold their wings when taking rest but dragonflies keep their wings straight and distant from their body. Dragonflies have a lot of agility as fliers which damselflies don't have.

About dragonflies

Dragonflies are quite special type of insects. It belongs to the order Odonata and infraorder Anisoptera. Their hindwing is wider than their forewing and they have big multifaceted eyes. They have two pairs of wings that are both transparent and powerful. They have a long body structure with occasional color spots on their body. Some of them even feature very bright colors, which give them a blazing appearance as they fly. There are around 24,000 ommatidia in the compound eye of an adult. They are predator insects, both as nymphs and adults. They mostly inhabit wetlands and have a number of uses in drug manufacturing. Dragonflies are also depicted as cultural symbols with different implications in many countries throughout the world. Next blog coming up soon! See you till then.

My Trip To "Fish Fish" Restaurant, Swinhoe Street, Kolkata.

Well, I am back almost after three months and this time I am blogging about my dining experience at one of the most famous restaurants in Kolkata. It is named "Fish Fish" and it is situated at 13/5, Swinhoe Street, Ballygunge, Kolkata. Fish Fish mainly serves Bengali cuisines and seafood and it is an ideal venue for casual dining. It is renowned for being the only 'fish only' restaurant in Kolkata.

When I entered, I found that Fish Fish has an extraordinary but wonderful ambience, specially created by the photographs of fishes and other forms of interior decoration. The staff of the restaurant are quite friendly and well-behaved. Food quality was satisfactory to me and the price range is within the capacity of the middle-class consumers. Rs.1200 is sufficient for two persons to have a mouth-watering lunch here.

The menu comprises salads, soups, starters, and main course (Bengali cuisines), all made of fish. I had jumbo prawn malaikari with plain rice and it was a sumptuous lunch for me. I gave Fish Fish a 4.5 rating out of 5 on Zomato and would like to endorse it as an excellent dining venue for fish aficionados. Next blog coming up very soon! See you till then. :-)
