Roadside clicks near Patuli Jheel Par (Lake)

Of late, Patuli Jheel Par or the lakeside and the adjacent areas of Baishnabghata Patuli Township have been beautified by the Kolkata Municipal Corporation. The area belongs to Ward no 101 of KMC, one of the erstwhile added areas under the century-old civic authority. The area has been developed in various ways, such as fixing of light posts, improvement of road condition, reduction of power outage, better water supply, improved sewerage, timely clearance of garbage and other civic amenities. Other than these activities, beautification has also been a priority and this has been done quite aptly over the past one or two years.

Now, the photographs that I have posted bear testimony to the different types of beautification endeavors performed in the area. A number of trident lights have been fixed in the area, gardens have been created with a variety of exotic natural and artificial flowers, and fountains sprinkling waters with different brilliant hues have been set up, Signposts with names and drawings of luminaries of Bengal have also been erected at different places. However, the most attractive part of the decoration has been the artwork on cement. Here you will find scenes depicting various contemporary and ancient events that will definitely attract you. Starting from the Sphinx (a mythical creature with the head of a human and the body of a lion) and Anubis (the God of the dead) of Egypt to Abhigyan Shakuntalam, the scenes are really charming for the spectators. The artist has done a tremendous job in replicating these age-old characters. I have clicked all the photos with my new Nikon Coolpix P900 ultrazoom camera. The photo album link is given below. Hope to see you soon! Bye for now.

Beautification of our area - Baishnabghata Patuli Township

Baishnabghata Patuli Township, lying in the southern suburbs of Kolkata, is a comparatively new area. Development started late in the nineties under the erstwhile Left Front Government. Since then, the place has undergone a number of changes in terms of electrification, construction and upkeep of roads and streets, water purification and supply, sewerage system and other areas. The development process is unceasing and the residents of the township are witnessing that quite well.

As far as lighting in Baishnabghata Patuli Township is concerned. sodium vapor lamps were already there to illuminate the roads. However, on 9th September, 2015, under the patronage and initiative of the newly elected councilor of our ward (Ward no 101 of KMC), Sri. Bappaditya Dasgupta, a number of trident lights were installed beside the water bodies in I and J blocks respectively. The trident lights contain three CFL lamps that are quite energy-efficient in nature. The idea was not only to beautify the area but also to enhance the illumination of the place so that pedestrian and vehicle movement could be made more convenient. These lights bring calmness to the ambience and the safety factor is also there. The entire environment of the place looks drastically different and we are thankful to the local people's representative for doing such a wonderful job. The link of the photo album clicked by me is given below. Next blog coming up very soon! Bye for now.
